Hydrotherapy is the external use of water in treatment of injury. In practical terms this means that patients are encouraged to exercise in warm water and this can give many benefits in certain conditions.
It enables free movement of limbs without weight bearing forces which may allow a debilitated animal to exercise with less pain. It also builds muscles which in turn support the joints and therefore aids recovery.

Who will benefit from hydrotherapy?
Everyone can benefit
Post operative and the arthritic benefit greatly because these dogs find ordinary excercises painful, whereas the warm water supports and relaxes them allowing pain free movement.
Cruciate strains and sprains can be exercised gently.

Hip and elbow dysplasia, spinal injuries and the elderly because the weightless exercise tones the muscles and allows them to exercise painlessly.
Young dogs especially from the larger breeds where heavy exercise can be detrimental to their young bones.
Show dogs, competition dogs and even the family pet can all benefit from swimming as the exercise will improve their general fitness.
